Today was an explore a few beaches & hang by the pool day! We were all awake by 4:30am here in Maui, which our internal clocks were saying “get out of bed it is 8:30am in MN”. We ventured to Maluaka Beach first thing in the morning, as I have been reading about whale watching right from the beach. The sand was like silk! The girls ran up and down the beach, cartwheels and all. We walked into the water expecting it to be chilly & to our surprise it was bath water warm! So amazing!!
We saw ghost crabs running along the sandy beach, saw one jelly fish washed up on shore. No whales at the first beach stop, but didn’t really know what we were looking for or what to expect!
We ventured to Walmart for a few things, I will say, if you are in Hawaii, buy groceries and personal items at Walmart or Target! The price at Safeway or local grocers is ridiculously high! A 1/2 gallon lactose free milk at Safeway we found was $7.69!!!!!! Whereas Walmart it was right around $4 which is about .50 cents higher than MN pricing which I thought was very impressive! I will be sharing all the things budget friendly/save yourself ideas if you travel to Maui! Even if you aren’t on a budget, no one likes spending more!
We checked out our resort pool, the pool water was chilly but soon felt very refreshing when the sun started to heat up! It was a high of 83 today and it was glorious! Slight humidity, great breeze. We caught ourselves saying all day how perfect the weather was from sun up to sun down! Not a single complaint came out of our mouths!
We crossed the street from resort to check out another beach, Kalepolepo Beach. The girls played in the water, in the sand, needless to say we had lots of sandy bottoms! While we sitting there taking in the views, we saw WHALES!!! It was so cool to sit on the beach and see whales jumping all around us! That was my mission that day was to be able to see whales from the beach, and we did it!! It was incredible! It was something that we will never forget! The girls were in shock, everytime a whale would jump out of the water, they would scream and say “did you see that”… these are the highlights, these moments are what vacations are all about!
We ended our night at a great Mexican restaurant, Roasted Chiles in Kihei. Maui has restrictions for indoor dining, we called ahead and they had a beautiful setup for us outside on the patio! Great food, great conversations & lots of laughter!
That’s all for now!
