House Number Sign DIY

The front of a house, the curb appeal is everything. I have switched up our front quite often, seasonal decor and rearranging. However our house number had been the same style since the day we bought it. I instantly removed the ugly house numbers and spray painted/distressed larger wood numbers.

It was time for something different. Something to freshen up the front door and curb appeal. I have been in this limbo phase because I really want our house color changed & the front brick I want use a technique called German schmear, and turn it white.

I finally decided to decorate the front with pieces that would work with a new paint color on house and brick & make it “fresh” even if we don’t get to painting this summer. …maybe fall fingers crossed.

Here is how I customized our house number sign, simple quick diy! {this has become my motto as of late}

I purchased the sign from hobby lobby, it was 50% off. Purchased galvanized numbers, silver in a 2 pack. Then I grabbed more rub n buff while at Hobby Lobby, because they actually had the color I wanted in stock! {all the links attached}

Simply apply rub n buff on galvanized numbers, let dry. Then I used a wood super glue to attach the numbers to the sign. Measure it out to be center on sign. Make sure to use an adhesive that can handle temperature changes, depending on where you live. In MN I had to make sure it would handle heat, humidity & subzero temps.

Finally, use a sealer & spray the entire sign and frame very well. I probably did about 6-7coats just to be safe! You can always reapply, but I wanted to make sure it was protected from sun, rain & everyday elements.

Super simple DIY & it makes the front door look fresh & clean!

That’s all for now.
