This home project was one that I had done & redone 3x...you heard that right 3x. All with the same outcome...it's better but it's not the best yet. A lighter shade of paint helped to brighten it up, but it was never enough. Let me introduce you to the HALLWAY PROJECT.
We had updated the hallway closet and transformed it from a junk closet to a hallway pantry. Next I needed the hallway to match, compliment rather, the new pantry. I decided since all the lighter shades of paint weren't cutting it, this time we were going fresh white! White walls to match my white trim & eventually all white hallway doors. (the doors that's a whole project itself...loads of paint later I still have chipping & peeling doors...ugh!)
There it started... white!! After one coat it was brighter, after 3 coats it was even better. 4 coats later and it was finished! I gave the ceiling a few new coats of white paint to match the walls...and the transformation was incredible! Fresh paint really does change a room/space. Next it was a new light fixture...goodbye outdated pendant light & hello new modern/farmhouse style light. I wanted simple. I wanted extra light. I wanted a clean look. This amazon light fixture DID NOT DISAPPOINT!
Next & Final...the end of the hallway I wanted wallpaper. Not the old fashion messy wall paper (do they even make that anymore?) I wanted easy stick n peel wallpaper that created a sleek accent wall. I didn't want bold. I didn't want flashy. I wanted something just enough to catch your eye without stopping you in your tracts WOW. I had toyed with the idea of stenciling & painting this design myself, but then I thought...if I want to get rid of this design in an few years (very common for me to change the house decor on a regular basis) then I could simply peel it off and have a fresh slate, versus painting all over again.
AMAZON...as much as people give it a bad rep...it makes my life so much easier. Don't get me wrong I love supporting local when I can. I love Target more than I should probably publicly admit. BUT AMAZON. I found a pattern very similar to what I had found at Target, for over half the price. It always was a white base versus a cream base that was at Target (which clearly would not mesh with my all white walls). I looked on wayfair with so many fun options, but next day free shipping at a lower price...You can't beat the convenience sometimes.
Within 30 minutes I had the wallpaper up & it just finished my vision. It was complete. A simple DIY to update my hallway was exactly the type of project I needed to get my feet wet & get my brain turning! Stay tuned to what's next at the KK & Crew Household.
